Storm Sewer 95% Completed. Sanitary Sewer Detention System Started

This week the contractor continued to work on the storm sewer improvements between Montgomery Street and Shermer Road. The contractor has completed the storm sewer service installations to individual homes throughout the project. The majority of the storm sewer work is now complete, with a few minor items yet to complete.

The contractor also removed the existing roadway pavement and concrete curb & gutter between Montgomery and Elm in preparation for the sanitary sewer work in this area.

This week also saw the start of the installation of the triple 48-inch sanitary sewer detention basin system. The contractor started between Montgomery Street and Elm Street. The contractor started by installing the sanitary sewer manholes mid-block and installed the 48-inch pipe to the west.

The contractor’s material supplier delivered a significant amount of large concrete pipe and concrete manholes that will be installed as part of the sanitary sewer detention basin system. Every effort will be made to stage these materials in a manner that is as convenient as possible for all residents, yet be in close proximity of the work to be performed. The delivery of these materials will be a regular occurrence throughout this construction stage. The contractor is committed to limiting the amount of materials on-site while balancing the need to have sufficient materials on-site.

The contractor is anticipating to work on Saturday, May 31st. The contractor will begin working at 8 AM and is anticipating to finish around 3 PM. The contractor does anticipate working several Saturday’s throughout the construction season to get the project completed in a timely manner.

Next week, the contractor will continue to work on the triple 48-inch sanitary sewer detention basin between Montgomery Street and Elm Street. The contractor will then move to the block between Elm Street and Parkview Road to continue the same process of installing the triple 48-inch sanitary sewer detention system in this area.

Colfax Avenue from Elm Street to Montgomery Street will remain closed until sanitary sewer work in this block is completed. We are anticipating this will be closed until late in the week of June 2nd.

We will monitor the progress of the on-going work, as the contractor gets closer to moving to the block between Elm Street and Parkview Road, we will notify the residents in the area regarding the roadway closure of that block.  We will not block the intersection of Parkview Road and Colfax Avenue since there is no additional access to Parkview Road south of Colfax Avenue.

Thank you again for all your patience and understanding as you deal with the inconveniences of underground utility improvements on and around the street you live on.
