2nd Sanitary Sewer Detention System on-going. Concrete work and 3rd Sanitary Detention System to start Next Week.

This past week the contractor continued to work on the 2nd section of the triple 48-inch sanitary sewer detention system between Elm Street and Parkview Road.

The block of Colfax Avenue from Elm Street to Parkview Road is now closed to all traffic. We anticipate this block will be closed through the middle of the week of June 16thWe will not block the intersection of Parkview Road and Colfax Avenue since there is no additional access to Parkview Road south of Colfax Avenue.

The contractor is anticipating to work this Saturday, June 14th.

This week also saw the arrival of the Nicor Gas contractor, NPL, on-site. They are beginning to install new gas main and services to various portions of Colfax Avenue. We are currently coordinating with NPL and DiMeo Brothers to ensure the project is completed as timely as possible without any unnecessary delays.

Mid next week, the contractor is anticipating moving to the 3rd, and final, section of the triple 48-inch sanitary sewer detention system between Parkview Road and Lincoln Street.  The process will be same as the other two sections with the entire block being closed during the construction of the sanitary sewer detention system. Residents in the area will be notified prior to closing this block.

Next week, Landmark Construction, the concrete sub-contractor, is anticipating to begin the concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk removal. The contractor is also anticipating to begin pouring the new concrete curb & gutter and sidewalks along the project site. The contractor is anticipating to begin at Shermer Road and work east to Elm Street.  The contractor will then continue to move east along the project site as the underground utilities are completed. Information regarding timing of construction, access to driveways, and other items of note will be delivered to residents prior to work starting.

Thank you again for all your patience and understanding as you deal with the inconveniences of underground utility improvements on and around the street you live on. A special thanks to those residents that have not been able to access their driveways for an extended period of time.

As the concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk work begins, all residents with driveways along Colfax Avenue will have a period of time in which they will not be able to access their driveways. We will do everything possible to minimize this time for all residents, but there are required amounts of time for concrete curing, as well as, potential delays due to weather. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this time. All residents will be notified prior to access to their driveway being restricted.
