Sod Restoration to Begin

Last week, the manhole lining contractor completed installing the 3rd, and final, application of the lining process.

The landscape contractor, ILT Vignocchi, was on-site spraying for weeds in preparation for sod installation this week.

The concrete contractor was on-site performing concrete repairs and completing some previously skipped areas.

Sod restoration is anticipated to begin this week and completed in 1-2 weeks.

Following sod restoration, the asphalt surface layer will be installed.

We appreciate your patience as you have dealt with lawns without grass throughout the spring and summer.

Restoration Work to Begin

Last week, limited work was performed on-site. The manhole lining contractor began installing the 3rd, and final, application of the lining process. The contractor began spraying the inside of the manholes with the epoxy material. This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of next week.

The contractor is also planning to be on-site on Saturday to complete some minor repairs and remaining work associated with the underground utility improvements. No roadways are anticipated to be dug up.

The Village worked diligently to determine a schedule from Nicor Gas to complete the gas main and service replacement project. Unfortunately, Nicor was not responsive the Village’s request. Therefore, the Village has decide to move forward with the completion and restoration of the project. Nicor Gas will now be responsible for restoring anything they damage during their construction.

The following is the anticipated schedule to complete the project:
Next week: Landscaper to spray weeds that have grown through the topsoil.
Week of September 22nd: Final grading of topsoil and installation of sod.
Early October: Asphalt surface paving.

You likely have noticed crews from National Power Rodding on-site cleaning and televising the sanitary sewers. This work is part of the Village’s 2014 Sanitary Sewer Lining Project. This is a separate project from the Colfax Avenue Project. This work is done under a separate contract as a cost-saving measure.

Thank you again for your patience as we get closer to the completion and final restoration of the project.

Manhole Lining On-Going

Last week, limited work was performed on-site. The most significant construction operation was making concrete repairs within the existing manholes prior to having the epoxy liner installed. This is the 2nd of 3 steps to the epoxy manhole lining process.

Next week the contractor will complete the concrete repairs and install the epoxy liner in the manholes.

The Village is continuing to reach out to NICOR to determine their schedule for completing the gas main and service replacement project along Colfax Avenue. A schedule for completing the work as not been provided to the Village at this time. Currently, the Village is anticipating to complete the asphalt surface paving and landscape restoration after the NICOR work is completed. If the Village cannot get a definitive schedule in the near future, the asphalt paving and landscape restoration will be completed. NICOR will then be responsible for any damage caused during their project.

Thank you for being patient while we coordinate with NICOR to determine the schedule for completing the project.
