Project Completed

Last week, the final stage of construction was completed, asphalt surface paving. Arrow Road Construction completed the asphalt surface paving of Colfax Avenue from Harlem Avenue to Shermer Road on Thursday, October 23rd.

The work associated with the Village of Glenview project is now completed, with a few minor repairs to be completed.

As mentioned previously, the landscape restoration will be reviewed in the spring of 2015 to ensure a healthy stand of grass is established and to identify any areas of settlement within the parkways or lawns.

Residents adjacent to the project site will be receiving a project evaluation form to be filled out and returned to the Village with any comments you may have regarding the construction process. The Village values your opinions and comments.  We appreciated your time in filling out these evaluations.

This will be the final blog post for this project. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact the project manager, Robert Steele at 847-904-4423.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding through the long construction season.

Preparing for Asphalt Surface

Last week, DiMeo Brothers made the connection between the existing water main and the newly installed water main at the intersection of Colfax and Parkview. The contractor also performed the concrete sidewalk and curb & gutter restoration in this area. It is also anticipated the asphalt patch will be completed in preparation for asphalt surface paving.

This week the contractor will perform the final steps in preparation for asphalt surface paving. Work will include sawing and trimming new joints and ensuring the proper thickness of asphalt is allotted for along the curb & gutter.

Asphalt paving is currently scheduled for the middle of this week. Once the asphalt surface is paved, the project will be completed with the exception of a few minor outstanding items.

With the significant rainfall last week, the landscape contractor did not perform additional watering. Due to the current weather conditions and timing of the year, it is not anticipated additional watering of the sod will be required. All landscape restoration will be evaluated next spring to ensure the sod is healthy and no additional settlement occurred within the parkways and lawns.

We thank you again for your patience and understanding throughout the project. If all goes as planned, the project will be completed by the end of this week. This will be the end of a long construction season for you all. Thank you again!!

Water Main to be Completed Next Week. Asphalt Surface Paving in 2 Weeks.

Last week, DiMeo Brothers completed the water main installation at the intersection of Parkview Road and Colfax Avenue. During a final walk-through the water main was determined to be leaking. It was decided to repair the water main prior to the final asphalt surface being installed. Thank you for your understanding as this additional work was performed.

The contractor also began performing the required testing of the newly installed water main. We are anticipating have the needed approvals by the beginning of next week. Once the necessary approvals are received, the contractor will perform the final connection to the existing water main and install new water services within this stretch of water main. This work is anticipated to be completed Monday or Tuesday next week.

The landscape contractor is responsible for continual watering of the sod until a healthy stand of grass is established. The contractor will continue to be on-site for the next several weeks watering the sod.

We are currently anticipating the final asphalt surface layer to be installed the week of October 20th.

We thank you again for your patience and understanding as this additional work was performed.
